08.06.2009 ILYA VOLKOV ON SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS UNDER CRISIS |
|
Ilya Volkov, CEO of the B2B.RU Open Barter System: This has created a substantial quantity of micro- and small businesses. First of all this regards service providers, particularly its segments that have demonstrated a lack of supply until recently: car washes, laundries, beauty salons, and so on. As for innovative industries, it is probable that new companies will emerge and develop within the IT industry. It primarily relates to web projects and various software developments. Besides, the 2008’s crisis has generated the second wave (the first one arose after August 1998) of small and medium regional food producers. An obvious feature of today’s period is the acute shortage of cash. Abrupt closure of the majority of financing channels and increasing prices for resources has led to several important consequences: some sobering of the employment market, trends for optimization of business processes and renunciation of all superfluous and appearance of new settlement forms, including open bartering.
